Estate Planning – Leave a Legacy
If you have a special interest in a local non-profit organization, or if you are interested in providing charitable giving in the Burlington area, we are here to help. A fund can be established that will insure that your wishes will continue many years into the future. This fund could support one specified local charity only, or have a wider range of interest as determined by you, or be unrestricted to allow a wide diversity of charitable needs as determined by the BCF board requirements.
We would be happy to discuss these options with you
to determine the best style of philanthropy for you.
Designated Fund
Direct your philanthropy to a single source
If your interest lies in a specific non-profit organization, a Designated Fund will allow present and future income to go directly to that organization, and you have the satisfaction of knowing that you will be supporting their work long-term. If the charity changes its mission or type of service, or if it dissolves, the Burlington Community Fund directs fund distributions to a comparable organization. Your philanthropic legacy continues to do the work you intended.
Consider this:
1. The organization you specify benefits from your fund – forever.
2. The BCF can redirect the distributions should the specified organization change its mission or cease to exist.
3. The organization that you designate will be monitored by our staff to ensure that the fund distributions are being used properly.
4. This fund can be established as part of your estate plan.
5. This fund can be named to recognize the donor(s), in memory of another person(s), or given an organizational name. Or you can select a name for the fund that ensures anonymity.
6. This fund can accept donations of most types of assets.
Unrestricted Fund
Give where the need is greatest –
The Burlington Community Fund receives grant requests throughout the year from many and varied non-profit organizations in the community, and most requests have a very significant need. These are reviewed and grants are determined by the Board of Directors. Situations occur when the need is greater than the funds available. An Unrestricted Fund will support the most current charitable needs in the Burlington community. As conditions change, so does our grant-making. BCF will be able to know where fund distributions will have the greatest impact. This type of fund is crucial to strengthening our community through effective philanthropy.
Consider this:
1. With this fund, your philanthropy will benefit the Burlington community– forever.
2. The BCF can direct the distributions to the most critical needs of non-profit organizations in the Burlington area.
3. The funds distributed will be monitored by our staff to ensure that they are being used properly.
4. This fund can be established as part of your estate plan.
5. This fund can be named to recognize the donor(s), in memory of another person(s), or given an organizational name. Or you can select a name for the fund that ensures anonymity.
6. This fund can accept donations of most types of assets.
Field Of Interest Fund
Target the specific areas where you want to make a difference –
When you are interested in supporting specific causes and programs, a Field-of-Interest Fund works well to achieve that goal. This fund is a permanent endowment that gives the ability to target a special interest, but with the flexibility to choose or rotate specific organizations. A sampling of these funds might include children’s programs, environmental needs, organizations and facilities for the elderly, medical needs, education, music and arts, just to name a few.
Consider this:
1. The areas you specify within the Burlington community benefits from your fund – forever.
2. The BCF can direct the distributions to suitable non-profit organizations in the local area that address your special interest.
